The battery case consists of two parts, the battery slot and the battery cover. The functions of the shell: one is to contain the electrolyte and the plate group; the other is to facilitate the charging and maintenance of the battery. The shell should be resistant to acid, heat, vibration and impact. Vehicle batteries generally use polypropylene transparent plastic shells, and the battery tank and battery cover are bonded into an integral structure by hot pressing. Not only does it meet the above requirements, but also the shell wall is thin (about 2mm thick) and light, easy to heat seal, beautiful in appearance, and low in cost.
The battery tank is divided into 6 separate cells by the partition, and the bottom is made with raised ribs for placing the plate group. The space formed by the ribs and the bottom edge of the pole plate can accumulate the active material falling off from the pole plate to prevent the short circuit of the positive and negative pole plates. For maintenance-free batteries with bag-type separators, ribs do not need to be provided because the shed active material is stored in the bag. The single cells of the storage battery are generally connected in series through the wall or across the shell with lead connecting strips, and can also be connected in series on the surface of the shell in an exposed form.
There is a liquid filling hole on the battery cover, and it is sealed with a screw plug or a cover plate to prevent the electrolyte from overflowing. Unscrew the screw plug of the filling hole or open the cover of the filling hole to fill the electrolyte and detect the density of the electrolyte. Vent holes are provided on the liquid filling hole screw plug and the cover plate to discharge the hydrogen and oxygen released by the chemical reaction. During use, the ventilation hole must be kept unblocked to prevent the shell from bursting or explosion accidents.
